Residency Curriculum

The Rio Grande Valley Dermatology Residency Program curriculum meets and exceeds the requirements of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology (AOCD).

 Residents will be assigned to services according to the following rotation plan:

Year 1

  • Dermatology Clinic 10 months
  • Dermatopathology 1 month (following at least 6 months in clinic)
  • Dermatology Elective 1 month

Year 2

  • Dermatology Clinic 10 months
  • Dermatopathology 1 month
  • Elective 1 month

Year 3

  • Dermatology Clinic 10 months
  • Dermatopathology 1 month
  • Elective 1 month

Electives must be approved by the Program Director and may be selected from the following: Pediatric Dermatology, Mohs Surgery, Dermatopathology, and General Dermatology.

The curriculum consists of the following lecture series on weekly basis. The schedules for these lectures are included in the Appendix. The lectures will be presented and/or moderated by a full time program faculty member.
